AQUACULTURE
Healthy water quality is the foundation of high-yield aquaculture. Quicklime is a versatile and widely applied agent in pond and waterbody management.
Upon application, quicklime reacts with water to release hydroxyl ions (OH-), providing effective disinfection, pH regulation, and calcium supplementation. This increases water alkalinity while helping eliminate pathogens and undesirable aquatic organisms.
As quicklime dissolves to form calcium hydroxide, it creates a buffering system that stabilizes water chemistry. Application to pond bottoms neutralizes acidic sediments and promotes the decomposition of accumulated organic matter.
The calcium ions released are also essential for crustacean exoskeleton development, helping prevent soft-shell disease, improve molting synchronization, and enhance overall survival rates.
